From a mission to a result

The joint programme of the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy and the Vladimir Potanin Foundation on the development of university’s collaboration with cultural and social institutions, “Participation environment”, gathered its participants for the first working group in Moscow in June.

Professors and heads of media communications, journalism, digital history, literature and media educational programmes from Perm, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod gathered together to discuss the project’s mission and common goals, to talk about future courses’ design, to get acquainted with digital instruments that are helpful in creating media creative projects for museums, theatres, libraries, non-profit organisations. 

The demonstration of works made by students as a part of the course Museum Production of the programme “Transmedia Production in Digital Industries” (NRU HSE) and joint discussion of pitfalls during launch and implementation of students’ projects in real life, understanding of legal peculiarities in this area and other problems of cooperation between universities and cultural and social institutions was an important part of this two-days seminar. 

The director of the center Anna Kachkaeva and its employees, the representatives of Moscow museums (Tatiana Gafar, Head of the Small Museums Development Service of the State Tretyakov Gallery; Ivan Lysyakov, head of information resources department of State Museum of Lev Tolstoy), specialists in the area of digital production and multimedia technologies, HSE professors gave lectures to the participants. 

Former students, graduates of the programme of transmedia production, told about their working and cooperation experience with museums and other cultural institutions, about digital applications that they created, about websites, audio guides and latest graduate master’s qualification works.
