On March 17, 2022, the HSE Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy is holding a seminar on the digitalization of religious practices. The focus of the seminar is the attitude of various faiths representatives to the use of media in religious practices, different views on the use of new technologies to support everyday religiosity both among religious leaders and within communities.

Those who do research in MediaStudies area in our country are concerned about what sciences are the main ones in academic profession and how one should shape his work towards the traditional philology in Russia if he studies computer games, virtual or augmented reality, data journalism or robotic algorithms of text generation.

The joint project of the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy and the Vladimir Potanin Foundation on the development of university’s collaboration with cultural and social institutions, “Participation environment”, was launched in Perm in September 2019. Students from different areas started their work on digital projects for social and cultural institutions of their cities. Las Friday, on 20th of September, the first meeting took place in Perm university. Student of the educational programme “History” met with representatives of State Art Gallery, Museum of Modern Art PERMM, Museum of Local History and State Archieve of Perm Region.

The joint project of the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy and the Vladimir Potanin Foundation on the development of university’s collaboration with cultural and social institutions, “Participation environment”, was launched in Perm, Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod. Students of media, history and journalism departments began their work on digital projects for various social and cultural institutions in their cities. We will now have a chance to know more not only about each other, but about amazing projects and regional organisations: museums, theatres, funds, libraries, scientific laboratories, festivals.

The joint programme of the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy and the Vladimir Potanin Foundation on the development of university’s collaboration with cultural and social institutions, “Participation environment”, gathered its participants for the first working group in Moscow in June.

Centre for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy of HSE University is a unique institution that combines teaching, research and consulting. This is an interdisciplinary platform in the area of digital media, media ecology, and transmedia literacy. The Centre develops projects for Moscow and other regions in Russia, holds workshops, and organizes international scientific conferences. The Centre not only does research but also carries out applied projects.
