To Play in Ensemble

For the first time the School of Creative Media was held as a part of Arts Journalism Training Seminar of the Trans-Siberian Art Festival (Novosibirsk 2019, Vadim Repin as an art director). The School was dedicated to multimedia reality of modern information environment and new technologies in mass media. The School that was organised by the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy on the National Research University Higher School of Economics, set a goal to explain to participants what it is to “see a story”, how to tell a regular story through a multimedia storytelling, play and how to learn to draw attention to the story, no matter what platform it is published at.

From the notion of transmedia to the depth of “soap operas universe”, from digital world ethics to multimedia storytelling, from blogger practice to online museums – the School topics were very diverse and deep. The Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy of the NRU HSE invited academic professors and experts of modern media industry to teach at the event: multimedia special projects creators, documentary and fiction film’s directors, media critics, script writes. Working in the beautiful music ‘decorations’ of Trans-Siberian Art Festival, the School received an official message of thanks from the audience that came from different parts of our country and became an intellectual platform for opinion and experience exchange. Anna Kachkaeva, director of the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy of the NRU HSE, said that “the modern music festival is a storytelling too, it represents performative art, multimedia and culture of participation. One just has to look at the programme of Trans-Siberian Art Festival in Novosibirsk. Therefore, we will try to play in Ensemble!”

The School succeeded in this as well as it stayed open for music, each other, new topics and knowledge.
