‘See You Online’

Centre for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy of the NRU HSE began its work on the online course ‘Understanding Media’ for Russian and international public who are interested in the challenges of media and informational literacy. The course will be available at one of the educational digital platforms. It is produced in Russian and is the first online educational course in our country that is dedicated to various questions of appropriate online behavior and to the production of critical thinking of media content consumers.

Taking the Second Step

The 11th summer school of Media Literacy for the students of different specialisations took place in Tsarskoye Selo, in NRU HSE congress complex called Kochubey Mansion. Aside from the traditional place and traditional theme, this School had a new content. The current school is called ‘Understanding media’ and it continues to share the ideas and mission of the first educational step, the News Literacy School. It is the next, more sophisticated step to comprehend current media, starting from basics of news and information literacy and towards the side of movie, digital and transmedia literacy.

To Play in Ensemble

For the first time the School of Creative Media was held as a part of Arts Journalism Training Seminar of the Trans-Siberian Art Festival (Novosibirsk 2019, Vadim Repin as an art director). The School was dedicated to multimedia reality of modern information environment and new technologies in mass media. The School that was organised by the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy on the National Research University Higher School of Economics, set a goal to explain to participants what it is to “see a story”, how to tell a regular story through a multimedia storytelling, play and how to learn to draw attention to the story, no matter what platform it is published at.

Experts from USA and Europe Told Students of Mediacommunications about Main Challenges of the Industry

International participants of the IV International Scientific-practical Conference “Media Education, Media Ecology, Media Literacy: Digital Media for the Future” that was held in HSE on 7-10 February gave lectures to the students of “Mediacommunications” program. They told them about influence of copyright law on the work of platforms, fight against misinformation and media ecology.

Media Freedom and Regulation of Copyright Law in Digital Era: Public Lectures of Andrey Richter and Juan Barata

Lectures were dedicated to the questions of regulating propaganda in media and novellas of European copyright law on digital media content.

Media department of the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design in cooperation with the Center for Digital Cultures and Media Literacy of the NRU HSE organize the International Scientific-practical Conference “Media Education, Media Ecology, Media Literacy: Digital Media for the Future”.
